This 7-hour live presentation course focuses on medium voltage cable splicing techniques, products, and field applications. It includes hands-on demonstrations of CSJA cold shrink joints, heat shrink straight splices, and PILC (paper-insulated lead-covered) cable breakouts. Participants will gain critical insight into the RPIT testing process and new innovations such as TE Connectivity’s elbow connector concept. By integrating both theoretical understanding and installation practices, this course prepares professionals to implement reliable splicing solutions in distribution networks, substations, and industrial applications.
Learning Objectives
This in-person course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Explain the design and advantages of cold-applied CSJA joints for MV splicing applications.
- Perform proper installation of heat shrink splices and PILC breakout solutions using best practices.
- Understand the function and setup of RPIT (Resonant Partial Inductive Testing) for field validation of MV joints.
- Evaluate the performance characteristics and applications of the latest elbow connector designs.
- Identify key considerations for selecting splice solutions based on cable type, shielding method, and site conditions.
