Complete continuing education packages built specifically for engineers registered in the State of Louisiana. Designed to fulfill the entire continuing education requirement.
This package was designed specifically for Louisiana chemical engineers looking to satisfy the Professional Development Hours (PDH) required by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Louisiana professional engineers must earn 15 PDH per calendar year, including at least 1 PDH in professional ethics each calendar year. Engineers who design buildings or building systems, or review or approve plans for buildings or building systems in Louisiana, must also earn at least 4 PDH per calendar year in Life Safety Code, building codes, and/or ADA Accessibility Guidelines.
Our Louisiana Chemical Engineering package contains two 15-PDH recommended completion plans, one for Year 1 and one for Year 2. Each year includes an ethics course, courses intended to help satisfy the Life Safety Code, building code, and/or ADA Accessibility Guidelines requirement, and technical courses selected for their ability to maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to your area of practice.
Important Louisiana Completion Note
Louisiana requires professional engineers to complete 15 PDH each calendar year, including at least 1 PDH in professional ethics each calendar year. Engineers who design buildings or building systems, or review or approve plans for buildings or building systems in Louisiana, must also complete at least 4 PDH each calendar year in Life Safety Code, building codes, and/or ADA Accessibility Guidelines.
This package includes 30 PDH and is organized into a recommended Year 1 and Year 2 completion plan to help Louisiana engineers satisfy the annual requirements. To use this package properly, complete the Year 1 courses during the first calendar year and the Year 2 courses during the second calendar year.
The licensee is responsible for completing the required PDH in the proper calendar year and maintaining records of course completion for license renewal and audit purposes.

Course Descriptions
ET-02-101 Engineering Ethics – 1 PDH
This course introduces engineering ethics using the NSPE Code of Ethics, ethical theory, and practical case studies. It is designed to help engineers recognize and evaluate ethical dilemmas that may arise in professional practice.
ST-02-502 International Building Code – Roof Assemblies and Rooftop Structures – 3 PDH
This course reviews International Building Code requirements for roof assemblies and rooftop structures. It covers weather protection, performance requirements, fire classification, roofing materials, roof coverings, insulation, rooftop structures, and reroofing provisions.
ME-02-107 Basic HVAC Controls and Energy Codes – 1 PDH
This course provides an overview of HVAC control strategies and their role in energy code compliance. It reviews scheduling, temperature setbacks, economizer logic, demand-controlled ventilation, VAV system optimization, IECC and ASHRAE 90.1 requirements, and common control implementation issues.
CH-02-216 Water Treatment – Phosphorous Removal – 6 PDH
This course reviews phosphorus removal technologies used in advanced wastewater treatment. It discusses nutrient-related water quality problems, treatment technology selection, performance considerations, and cost factors for facilities designed to produce low-phosphorus effluent.
CH-02-210 Introduction to Valves – 4 PDH
This course provides an overview of common valve types, components, functions, and applications. It covers gate, globe, plug, ball, needle, butterfly, diaphragm, pinch, check, safety/relief, and reducing valves, along with common actuator types and valve selection considerations.
ET-02-614 Louisiana Engineering Ethics: Lessons from Board Disciplinary Actions – 1 PDH
This course reviews professional ethics issues for Louisiana engineers using lessons from board disciplinary actions. It discusses common violations, the LAPELS disciplinary process, professional responsibility, compliance obligations, and best practices for maintaining ethical integrity.
EE-02-504 National Energy Code Lighting Requirements – 1 PDH
This course reviews lighting energy code requirements with a focus on ASHRAE 90.1 and the International Energy Conservation Code. It discusses lighting power density, control strategies, code exemptions, practical compliance examples, and energy-efficient lighting design.
